I teach 10th grade CP geometry. I have been using technology in my teaching since 1997. I started with the first interactive white board in the district I was in and have progressed from there. The strategies that I use have been changed to fit my style of teaching and my students. If I could give a new teacher any advice about using technology I would tell them to start with just one new item a year. If you try to do too much in a year all of them will fail. If you try just one new item each year you can adapt that strategy or teaching style to you and make it your own. You may take any of my ideas and use them or adapt them to fit your classes.
Every class I teach has technology in it. These are some of the items I do in my class throughout the year.
Geogebra – this tool is free and can be used on a MAC or PC. This tool is key to the paperless environment because it allows a student to see the geometry while you are talking about it. Now geogebra allows you to make a sketch and embed it into your webpage and have it interactive with your students. http://www.geogebra.org/cms/
Geometers Sketchpad 5 – now this program I use, but it is not free and the students do not have access to it at home, but it can be used in my room and I do many demonstrations with it.
Google Earth – in geometry I use this tool for many activities to bring geometry into the real world. Some of the projects are listed below.
TextMark lite – I use this tool to tell the students of homework and quizzes each night. http://lite.textmarks.com/
Garage Band – I have students listen to podcasts to prepare for the lesson before they come to class. They can listen to them in iTunes or quick time. This is my podcast site, http://apple1.parklandsd.org/users/goldsteinteach/

EasiTeach - to deliver all my lessons to students in class.
Airport Activity – using Google Earth I have saved images of airports. The students use geogebra or sketchpad to determine if the runways are parallel. You can modify the activity to use integers; it works better with integers for lower level students.
Swim cube activity – using the Olympic swim cube, I have pictures in Google earth and images from Google and I place them onto sketchpad and the students have to answer questions and submit the answers in Moodle.
Circle Project – using Google earth and sketchpad or geogebra I have the students to measuring of various building and items in Google earth.
Geocaching – I have the students use GPS units and find canisters hidden around the outside of the building. In each canister is a question, they have to answer the question and turn it in. I have not gone paperless on this activity.
